Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The National Electricity Distribution Company, in Cunene, collected 196.63 million kwanzas in the first quarter of this year, an increase of 66.5% over the same period last year.<\/b><\/p>\n

The registered increase results from the payment of debts contracted by several customers, between public and private companies, according to the Institutional Communications Officer of ENDE Cunene, Lui\u0301s Capitango, who spoke this Tuesday.<\/p>\n

In the period in question, the company had a turnover of 248.62 million kwanzas.<\/p>\n

The company also celebrated, in the first quarter, 371 new contracts, currently having 20 thousand and 576 customers, of which 15 thousand 988 in the postpaid system and four thousand 588 in the prepayment system.<\/p>\n

Despite the liquidation of part of the overdue debts, the company, still according to Lui\u0301s Capitango, the general debt is estimated at 1.58 billion kwanzas, with a growth of 1.45%.<\/p>\n

Part of this debt, he highlighted, is due to the lack of awareness of the regular payment of its fees by customers.<\/p>\n

In view of the large amount still to be redeemed, ENDE is carrying out pedagogical actions aimed at reducing the debt, through visits to the most problematic customers, with whom negotiations were agreed for the payment of the debt in installments.<\/p>\n

With a power of 59,115 megawatts, the electricity system in the province of Cunene is interconnected only in the municipalities of Cuanhama and Namacunde, with energy produced from the Ondjiva thermal power plant.<\/p>\n

As for Ombadja, energy is produced through the hybrid power plant in Xangongo, with a capacity of five megawatts, and Cahama with a generator set of 1030 kva.<\/p>\n
