Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The possibility of Angola hosting a CPLP sub-regional office is under debate this Wednesday, in the municipality of Catumbela, Benguela province, on the second day of the fifteenth meeting of that organisation.<\/b><\/p>\n

The spokesperson for the event, Davide Kinjica, said that it will be a benefit not only for Angolans, as Portugal, Brazil and East Timor already have similar offices.<\/p>\n

According to him, community members are giving all their support to make this a reality.<\/p>\n

To this end, documents are on the table for a draft resolution that will be submitted for political decision, for today, May 18th, to be ratified by the CPLP Ministers of Labour.<\/p>\n

One of the hottest points in ‘s debates, according to Davide Kinjica, was the multilateral convention on social security, as it is a very complex subject.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis matter was adopted in 2003, in East Timor, but given its complexity, many countries have not yet ratified the document, including Angola\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

Examining the subject a little, Davide Kinjica stated that processes such as the portability of pensions are involved, as there are specific rules in each country.<\/p>\n

He gave the example of Angolans working in Portugal being able to receive their pensions in Angola and the same situation in relation to CPLP expatriates working in the country, referring to the exchange rate issue, reflected in currency transfers.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is not just a matter for the Ministry of Public Administration, Labor and Social Security, but also for Finance, the National Bank of Angola and Foreign Affairs, as the recognition of documents and the certification of the time count will be at stake\u201d, stressed.<\/p>\n

Despite its complexity, Davide Kinjica expressed confidence that, despite the heated debates, the community is committed to solving this problem for the benefit of all.<\/p>\n

Other important topics, which also deserved special attention, were the fight against child labor and forced labor.<\/p>\n

According to the spokesperson, at the end of the meeting, there will be a declaration, called the \u201cDeclaration of Benguela\u201d, which will reflect the commitment that the members will assume on the points discussed.<\/p>\n

The fifteenth meeting of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries, under the motto: \u201cFor social justice and decent work for all\u201d, is the first to be held outside Luanda, in Angola.<\/p>\n
