Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Acts of vandalism and theft of low voltage electrical cables from the public network, carried out by some national citizens, last weekend, left the Gove sector, Caa\u0301la municipality, Huambo province, in the dark.<\/b><\/p>\n

This involves the vandalism of 300 electrical cables, belonging to the Public Electricity Production Company (PRODEL-EP), at the Gove electrical substation, which supports the local Hydroelectric Plant, inaugurated in 2012, with 60 mega watts of installed capacity.<\/p>\n

The information was provided, this Thursday, by the spokesperson of the National Police in the province of Huambo, chief inspector Carla Jovany, referring to the perpetrators aged between 35 and 38 years, who are already with justice.<\/p>\n

According to the official, the vandalism that took place at midnight last Friday (12) left the sector without public lighting, in addition to more than 100 residences in the dark.<\/p>\n

Faced with this situation, Carla Jovany appealed to the population to collaborate with the authorities, both in monitoring public property and in denouncing all acts that threaten public safety.<\/p>\n

Located 119 kilometers from the city of Huambo, the sector of Gove, attached to the commune of Cuima, has 60 villages and two villages, covering an area of \u200b\u200b800 square kilometers and an estimated population of 25,000 inhabitants, who are mainly engaged in agriculture and artisanal fishing.<\/p>\n

It is recalled that several neighborhoods in the municipalities of Huambo and Caa\u0301la have been the target of vandalism in electrical infrastructures, a fact that has created enormous damage to the National Electricity Distribution Company (ENDE-EP).<\/p>\n

With more than two million 700 thousand inhabitants, the province of Huambo is administratively composed of 11 municipalities and 37 communes.<\/p>\n
