Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Angola and the Union of the Comoros assessed this Wednesday, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, issues of bilateral, regional and multilateral interest, with emphasis on the country’s candidacy for the presidency of the African Union for 2025.<\/b><\/p>\n

The approach was made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Te\u0301te Anto\u0301nio, and by the leader of that country and acting president of the AU, Azali Assoumani, who also addressed the preparations for the visit of that entity to Angola.<\/p>\n

For approximately one hour, the head of Angolan diplomacy Te\u0301te Anto\u0301nio and President Azali Assiumani reviewed issues on the political and security situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).<\/p>\n

On the DRC, the initiatives carried out within the scope of the Luanda and Nairobi Processes were highlighted, as well as the results of the Extraordinary Summit of the SADC Double Troika held in Windhoek on the 8th of May of the current year.<\/p>\n

They also addressed issues related to SADC’s support in stabilizing security in the East of the DRC with the deployment of a regional force within the framework of the force on alert of this regional community.<\/p>\n

The head of Angolan diplomacy informed President Azali Assiumani of the need for coordination and joint efforts, under the auspices of the AU with the involvement of SADC, CAO, CIRGL and CEEAC within the scope of the Quadripartite Summit.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, Te\u0301te Anto\u0301nio conveyed to the President of the Union of the Comoros and Acting President of the African Union a message from President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o which is limited to the ambit of relations of friendship and solidarity between the two countries and the African organization he currently heads.<\/p>\n

The meeting with the highest representative of the Union of the Comoros took place within the framework of the visit that President Azali Assoumani is due to make, from 15 to 18 May, to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, in his capacity as Acting President of the African Union.<\/p>\n
