Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, authorized the provision of 275 million 457 thousand and 150 US dollars for the rehabilitation of the Mavinga\/ Rivungo section, Cuando Cubango province, in an extension of 212 kilometres.<\/b><\/p>\n

The respective amount will be used, essentially, for the construction of the road, six bridges and treatment of chanas.<\/p>\n

Located on National Road (EN) no 280\/EN 180, the rehabilitation of this section aims to boost the socio-economic expansion of the South and East region and commercial exchanges between the population of Cuando Cubango and the Republic of Zambia.<\/p>\n

The infrastructure will also contribute to increasing agricultural and livestock production, increasing corn and rice production, as well as providing access to schools, health clinics and other State Local Administration services, in addition to boosting the development of the mining and timber industry.<\/p>\n

In accordance with Presidential Order No. 94\/23 of May 9, the provision of 3.4 billion kwanzas is authorized for the supervision of works on that National Road, characterized by a long stretch of beaten earth and extensive areas of chanas, which is in a serious state of degradation.<\/p>\n

The current state of the referred road is characterized, in some points, by its partial and total cut, jeopardizing road safety and making it impossible to expand cultural and commercial exchanges in that region of the country.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Public Works, Urban Planning and Housing is delegated competences, with the power to sub-delegate, for the practice of all decision-making acts and supervisory approval, including the preparation of procedural documents, the conclusion and signing of contracts.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Finance must ensure the financial resources necessary for the execution of contracts, as well as the registration of projects in the Public Investment Program (PIP), says the Presidential Order.<\/p>\n

Rivungo and Mavinga are areas of large cereal production in Cuando Cubango, where peasants have been finding it difficult to sell agricultural production, due to the poor state of the road that connects the two municipalities.<\/p>\n
