Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Labor ministers of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) reaffirmed, this Thursday, in the municipality of Catumbela (Benguela), the commitment to eradicate child labor in the Member States.<\/b><\/p>\n

In a declaration produced at the end of its fifteenth meeting, it is highlighted that this intention aims to continue to contribute to the pursuit of the Sustainable Development objectives, within the framework of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.<\/p>\n

To this end, the organization will ensure the prohibition and elimination of the worst forms of child labour, including the recruitment and use of child soldiers by 2025.<\/p>\n

It was also recommended to strengthen national development strategies and plans for the eradication of extreme poverty and the fight against social inequalities.<\/p>\n

CPLP members reiterated their commitment to promoting social policies, namely active employment measures, mainly for young people, as well as extending universal social protection, gradually implementing national social protection floors, in line with the Organization’s recommendation International Labor Organization (ILO).<\/p>\n

The Government of Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Principe, which will receive the Presidency of the CPLP in August 2023, was encouraged to pursue a community linkage that would allow for increased inter-sectoral cooperation between the Member States.<\/p>\n

This measure is intended to reinforce the contribution of the CPLP to the implementation of Agenda 2030, for Sustainable Development and Agenda 2063 of the African Union.<\/p>\n

It also includes, among other recommendations, supporting Angola, Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Principe and East Timor for the ratification and implementation of Convention number 102 of the ILO, on Social Security, underlining, in this respect, with satisfaction, the progress already registered in the other Member States.
