Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Angola will continue to make efforts to strengthen and deepen political-diplomatic relations and economic cooperation with the United States of America (USA), said the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o.<\/b><\/p>\n

The Angolan Head of State expressed this position in a message on the occasion of the 30 years of diplomatic relations between Angola and the US, celebrated on Friday (19).<\/p>\n

In the document, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o defended the deepening of relations with the US on the basis of respect, reciprocity and mutual advantages to the benefit of both countries and peoples.<\/p>\n

“On this important occasion”, continues the Angolan statesman, “I express in my name and that of the Angolan Executive, our appreciation for the growing closer ties that link our two countries”.<\/p>\n

President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o highlighted the “inspiring words” of his American counterpart, Joe Biden, who expressed “views with which we fully share”.<\/p>\n

Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o emphasized the fact that the three decades of partnership have proved to be increasingly important and transformative for the respective countries and peoples.<\/p>\n

The Angolan statesman considered the shared values \u200b\u200band commitment to prosperity, security, innovation, justice and friendship to be irreversible.<\/p>\n

The Angolan President highlighted, however, the announcements made by his counterpart Joe Biden at the recent G7 Summit, in Hiroshima, Japan, as further evidence of the growing partnership between the two countries.<\/p>\n

In the missive, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o referred that the “significant” investments in Angola, announced by the US, are based on understandings reached between the countries and on the growing partnership also in the area of \u200b\u200bDefense and Security.<\/p>\n

Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o thanked President Biden, the Republicans and Democrats in the US Congress and Senate, and the American people, for their constructive stance and the spirit of collaboration that yesterday defines the relationship between our two countries.<\/p>\n

Angola and USA Relations<\/p>\n

Angola and the United States of America established formal diplomatic relations in 1993.<\/p>\n

The energy sector is at the center of economic relations between both countries.<\/p>\n

The American Ex-ImBank has a credit line to support US exports to Angola.<\/p>\n

The United States-Angola Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to promoting trade and investment between the two countries.<\/p>\n

Fight against corruption<\/p>\n

The U.S. supports Angola in its fight against corruption through a number of initiatives, including the Treasury Department’s program, launched in March 2019, to enhance the country’s ability to implement the Anti-Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism (AML) regime. \/CFT).<\/p>\n

economic cooperation<\/p>\n

American companies have investments in Angola, especially in the energy sector. ExxonMobil, Halliburton, Baker Hughes, Caterpillar, Chevron, Cummins, TechnipFMC and Tidewater are all represented in the country.<\/p>\n

In 2019, a consortium led by Chevron announced plans to invest more than two billion dollars in exploring new offshore natural gas fields and increasing production from existing fields.<\/p>\n

The US Ex\u2013ImBank signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Angola in April 2019, with the aim of exploring guarantees of up to US$4 billion in support of US exports to the country.<\/p>\n
