Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The work performed by media professionals was discussed this Sunday, in Cunene province, during a reflection meeting that brought together journalists, communicologists and opinion makers.<\/b><\/p>\n

The meeting was preceded by a religious ceremony, at the parish of Sa\u0303o Francisco de Assis, and aimed to reflect on the message of Pope Francis, on the occasion of the 57th anniversary of World Social Communication Day, marked 21 May.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the pastor of the church, Gaude\u0302ncio Yakuleinge, said that the meeting aimed to assess the professional performance of journalists, who despite the various difficulties carry out their work in favor of information.<\/p>\n

The parish priest urged all social communication professionals to continue to reflect the truth in their work, inform with love, obey conscience and avoid journalistic manipulations.<\/p>\n

He said that Angolan society is increasingly demanding, this being a dynamic reality to which the media cannot be indifferent.<\/p>\n

For this reason, he warned media professionals to continue to guarantee the right to inform and be informed, as enshrined in the Constitution.<\/p>\n

However, he recalled that Pope Francis’ message calls attention to the class to maintain guidelines as a starting point for communication with love.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe must continue to reflect, interact and assess the perception of the journalistic class for a better evaluation and knowledge of the performance of the mission of training and informing.<\/p>\n

The date was established by Pope Paul VI in 1967 to encourage the world to reflect on the opportunities and challenges of living with the new media.<\/p>\n
