Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The president of the Forum of Parliamentarians of the Great Lakes Region (FP-CIRGL), Jemma Nunu Kumba, begins today a five-day working visit to the country, aimed at sharing experience in various fields.<\/b><\/p>\n

Jemma Nunu Kumba, who arrived in Luanda yesterday, accompanied by a delegation made up of deputies from the Region’s Parliament, was received at the 4 de Fevereiro International Airport by the 1st Vice-President of the National Assembly, Am\u00e9rico Cuononoca, from whom she received greetings of good welcome and asked you to enjoy the Angolan culture.<\/p>\n

“We welcome you to Angola. We hope that in the next five days of coexistence you will be able to share your knowledge with us. However, we want you to feel at ease as if you were in your country. Therefore, the Angolans welcome you with great joy\u201d, underlined Am\u00e9rico Cuononoca.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the press, Jemma Nunu Kumba said it was a courtesy visit, adding that it will serve, among other matters, to present the President of the Republic, Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o, the results of the last meeting of the Great Lakes Region that South Sudan hosted.<\/p>\n

The also national transition president of South Sudan also has a meeting with the leader of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, with whom, she explained, she intends to exchange parliamentary experiences.<\/p>\n

“We will, among the presidents, share experiences. Now, this visit is also part of the learning effort so that parliamentarians can interact and learn from each other. For this reason, I thank the Angolan Parliament for hosting us and for having created all the conditions for this visit to become a reality\u201d, rejoiced Jemma Nunu Kumba.<\/p>\n

Jemma Nunu Kumba became the first female Speaker of the Parliament of South Sudan when she was appointed in 2021 by President Salva Kiir.<\/p>\n

The FP-CIRGL is an inter-parliamentary organization that brings together national parliaments from the 12 member states of the CIRGL, namely Angola, Burundi, Congo, Central African Republic (CAR), Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Kenya, Rwanda, Sudan, South Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania and Zambia.<\/p>\n

The Forum was established on 4 December 2008 in Kigali, Rwanda, following the signing of the Inter-Parliamentary Agreement.<\/p>\n

The body comprises the Plenary Assembly, the Plenary Assembly Bureau, the Conference of Presidents, the Executive Committee, Commissions and the General Secretariat.<\/p>\n

Angola was officially invited to be a member of the Parliamentary Forum of the Conference on the Great Lakes Region in January 2013. It joined the body in November 2014.<\/p>\n
