Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The role played by the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, in the continuous stabilization of the Southern African Region, was recognized Wednesday, in Cuando Cubango, by members of the Association of Military Attache\u0301s accredited in Angola. <\/b><\/p>\n

These are military attaches from countries such as Brazil, Portugal, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Congo Brazzaville, who visited the Memorial to the Victory of the Battle of Cuito Cuanavale, the three South African tanks left on the ground during the war and the Triangle of Tumpo, area of \u200b\u200bthe great stage of the military theater.<\/p>\n

The president of the Association of Military Attache\u0301s in Angola, Colonel of the Brazilian Army Helton Fernandes de Andrade, acknowledged that Angola is a country that currently offers many strategic investment opportunities in Africa, in addition to the political stability it offers in the region of Southern Africa.<\/p>\n

Helton Andrade highlighted the efforts of the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, in diversifying Angola’s economy, at a time when the oil product has been thriving in the world market.<\/p>\n

He praised and encouraged the Angolan Government to continue to invest in democratic diplomacy, in the issue of conflict resolution in Africa.<\/p>\n

He also highlighted PR’s strategy in the search for dialogue between African leaders, having exemplified the incessant search for political stabilization in the Democratic Congo, a model that must be followed in the peace that is intended in the world.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the Brazilian Army officer considered important the tribute to the valiant fighters of Cuito Cuanavale, for their dedication to the liberation of Southern Africa, a historical dimension that must be preserved, which should be pride of Angolans.<\/p>\n

In turn, the administrator of Cuito Cuanavale, Daniel Bimbi Alfredo, considered the visit of the military attaches to that municipality to be opportune, as it will give rise to the projection of its image for national and foreign investments, which are necessary to leverage the development of the historic district.<\/p>\n

The military attaches’ agenda includes a visit to the Longa Industrial Farm, which is in its crucial phase of first harvests and rice production, as well as to the centrality of Tucuve, the Larviculture center of Missombo, the Moc\u0327a\u0302medes Railway.<\/p>\n

It should be noted that the Battle of Cuito Cuanavale, whose outcome took place on March 23, 1988, allowed the national independence of Namibia in 1990, the release of the then president of South Africa, Nelson Mandela, the abolition of the Apartheid regime , hence it has been celebrated (March 23) since 2017 as Southern Africa Day.<\/p>\n

Cuito Cuanavale, which is 189 kilometers east of the city of Menongue, capital of Cuando Cubango, has three communes, namely Longa Baixo, Longa and Lupiri, with an estimated population of over 40,829 inhabitants.<\/p>\n
