Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The taxi service by digital mobile application in Angola could be legalized later this year, after approval of the regulation to formalize this activity, carried out illegally in the country.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to the Secretary of State for Land Transport, Jorge Bengue, the proposed document to regulate the respective activity is at the stage of collecting contributions from various sectors of society.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Ra\u0301dio Nacional de Angola (RNA), the official added that, with the approval of the regulation, taxi operators, using digital applications, will start to carry out the activity legally, starting this year.<\/p>\n

According to Jorge Bengue, the lack of formalization of this activity offers room or room for maneuver for criminals to commit crimes.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are already receiving complaints about crimes committed by individuals who pretend to be taxi drivers or taxi service providers by application, acts that tend to increase, essentially, due to the lack of legalization of this activity in the country\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n

Therefore, he underlined, the regulation to be approved will have specific rules to guarantee the safety of passengers, with the identification of the drivers’ history, diagnosis of the technical condition of the vehicles, among other requirements.<\/p>\n

For better control of this activity, the Secretary of State for Land Transport also added that, as soon as the regulation is approved, taxi applications will be made available to the National Police, through the Integrated Public Security Center (CISP).<\/p>\n

In addition to formalizing the digital taxi service, the mentors of these apps also advocate the creation of a fairer taxation model, with the implementation of the \u201cdigital tax\u201d, to encourage the massification and sustainability of the business, done through the internet.<\/p>\n

As an example, the general director of the \u201cYango\u201d technology platform, Ivan Mugimbo, revealed in 2022 that his company has drivers with a monthly income of one million kwanzas, an amount that could be taxed and ensure the future worker’s pension, through the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) discount.<\/p>\n

In addition to Yango, which uses a digital application to monitor taxi service vehicles, the market for these services, particularly in the province of Luanda, has seen an increase in operators, which has led to the creation of several jobs.<\/p>\n
