Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The chief Afonso Vity Wambembe was elected yesterday, in the city of Cuito, with 134 votes in favour, president of the Provincial Council of the Traditional Authority of Bie\u0301.<\/p>\n

During the ceremony of the first constituent assembly, the first vice-president, Rufino Nete, the second vice-president, Vasco Jamba, the secretary, Anto\u0301nio Jamba, secretary of Finance, Esperanc\u0327a Essenje, as well as the members Fernando Ngongo and Antonio Bento.<\/p>\n

This Council also includes, for a five-year term, four advisers, namely Adelino Mateus, Ma\u0301rio Muto, Anto\u0301nio Samba and Bernardo Nicolau, all sworn in by the National President of Traditional Sovereignty of Angola (ANSTA), Miguel Matias Filipe.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the newly elected Afonso Vity, who previously exercised the functions of municipal mayor of Cuito, underlined that, in a first phase, he should commit himself to the urgent creation of Municipal Councils, with a view to complying with the statutes of the Council National.<\/p>\n

In turn, the president of ANSTA, Miguel Matias Filipe, appealed to the local chiefs to remain united in the preservation of traditional power, to be non-partisan and to have a fruitful interpersonal relationship between the members of the court.<\/p>\n

He also exhorted traditional authorities to help conserve the environment, discouraging the population from burning and illegal hunting.<\/p>\n

Miguel Matias Filipe, on the other hand, advised this court to encourage the rural community to improve basic sanitation, build latrines and combat open-air defecation.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, this assembly also approved the enthronement of the soba Afonso Vity Wambembe, as King, in November of the current year.<\/p>\n
