Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Forty-five billion kwanzas is the amount that the Bank of Commerce and Industry (BCI) has made available so far to support the promotion of family farming in the country.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to the director of BCI-AGRO, Ferreira Kavissukua, who was speaking during the Benguela International Fair, around 60 thousand families have already benefited.<\/p>\n

The official explained that, for the agriculture support programme, the amounts made available by each family vary between 100,000 and two million kwanzas, depending on the need and repayment capacity of each producer.<\/p>\n

The head of BCI-AGRO informed that all citizens can benefit from funding, as long as they meet some basic conditions, such as ownership of land and willingness to work.<\/p>\n

He made it known that some priority provinces were geographically selected, such as Malanje, Huambo, Hui\u0301la, Cuanza Sul, Bie\u0301 and Benguela, with Huambo being the one that most benefited from credits due to the greater number of families involved in agricultural production.<\/p>\n

Ferreira Kavissukua assured that six crops are being preferably supported, such as rice, maize, wheat, soy, beans and cotton.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, he said that BCI-AGRO’s target is to triple the number of beneficiaries by 2024, in order to help combat hunger and poverty among Angolans.<\/p>\n

Asked whether the beneficiaries are complying with the reimbursement of the amount, he guaranteed that it is being done.<\/p>\n
