Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Angola and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) organize, from May 29 to June 2, a Conference on the fight against corruption, focusing on the challenges of cooperation at the SADC level.<\/b><\/p>\n

The event, which will bring together government entities, civil society representatives, experts and academics from SADC, UNODC and international organizations, aims to strengthen the fight against corruption and promote transparency and good governance.<\/p>\n

It also aims to contribute to the fulfillment of the goals established under the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC).<\/p>\n

The holding of the Conference stems from the recognition of the urgent need to develop coordinated and cooperative actions within the SADC framework for preventing and combating corruption.<\/p>\n

Its organization is also due to the fact that corruption is a global challenge that negatively affects economic development, social justice and political stability.<\/p>\n

The speakers will discuss ways to share successful experiences and seek solutions so that they can jointly face the fight against corruption.<\/p>\n

Among the main topics to be addressed are the challenges of regional cooperation in the implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption<\/p>\n

The legal framework in force in the SADC countries and the adoption of a model roadmap by the organization on the priority areas in the field of preventing and combating corruption in the region will also be under analysis.<\/p>\n
