Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The provincial secretary of UNITA in Cuanza Sul, Armando Kaquepa, defended, this Tuesday, in Sumbe, greater rigor in the inspection of public works in progress in the region, in order to avoid the completion of poor quality infrastructure and little durability.<\/b><\/p>\n

The provincial secretary of UNITA, who was speaking at a press conference, welcomed the fact that Cuanza Sul benefited from several works included in the Integrated Plan of Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM), thus justifying the need for greater supervision with a view to to meet the expectations of the populations.<\/p>\n

\u201cMany works at provincial level start at an acceptable pace, but sometimes they are not concluded in a positive way, which is why UNITA wants serious supervision and that contractors who do not comply with what is stipulated in the contract are held accountable in court\u201d , he stressed.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the politician highlighted the need to increase funds from the General State Budget (OGE) for the province, in order to allow the resolution of the main problems that afflict the population.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe OGE budget allocated to the province is derisory, as most municipalities are struggling with a lack of drinking water and electricity, as well as schools and hospitals\u201d, he stressed.<\/p>\n

However, within the framework of improving the living conditions of the population of Cuanza Sul, the Angolan Executive has already gone from a budget of 110,516,660,875.00 kwanzas, in the year 2022, to the current Kz 147,195,878,046.00.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, Armando Kaquepa denounced, without naming names, the existence of private companies, in the municipality of Porto-Amboim, that have systematically violated the rights of their workers, requesting an inspection by the competent bodies.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have verified the existence of some private companies whose owners, mostly foreign citizens, have violated human rights and must be inspected\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n

The province of Cuanza Sul occupies an area of \u200b\u200b55,660 square kilometers and has an estimated population of over two million inhabitants, distributed in 12 municipalities and 36 communes.<\/p>\n
