Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of State of the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Katja Keul, considered this Wednesday as “lasting and good” the partnership established with the Government of Angola, in the area of \u200b\u200brenewable energies.<\/b><\/p>\n

Katja Keul, who is in Angola as part of the 1st Forum of Southern Africa and Europe on Green Hydrogen, highlighted the country’s potential for the production of clean energy, which in her view could reach more than two thirds, in terms of contribution .<\/p>\n

\u201cAngola has sun, lots of wind and big rivers. The country can produce more than two thirds of clean energy”, he considered, maintaining that Angola’s “great” renewable potential also makes room for the export of green hydrogen.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Forum, the German diplomacy official also said that the objective of cooperation, with Angola and other countries, in the area of \u200b\u200bclean energies, is to ensure that there is an energy transition for the benefit of the people.<\/p>\n

As part of the established cooperation, the German Government official said that they are accompanying the active work of the two German companies, Gauff GmbH and Conjuncta GmbH, which signed a partnership with the national oil company, Sonangol, within the framework of the implementation of projects linked to green hydrogen energy.<\/p>\n

Concerned about the climate changes that affect several countries in the world, including Angola, where there are prolonged droughts in the South, Katja Keul also asked for the reinforcement of synergies between the countries of Southern Africa, for the emergence of the green hydrogen industry in the region.<\/p>\n

Angola can be leader<\/p>\n

According to the representative of the European Union delegation in Angola, Jeannete Seppen, there are reports that mention favorable reductions in carbon emissions at the level of the countries of Southern Africa, including Angola, which could lead this plan.<\/p>\n

Not to mention the potential in the Southern African region, he admits that the demand for green hydrogen continues to grow, noting that there are more countries that continue to reduce carbon emissions.<\/p>\n

Currently, he said, 80 million tons of hydrogen are produced annually internationally, which can be transformed into millions of tons of renewable energy.<\/p>\n

As a result of this commitment, he said that the European Union is committed to supporting the development of the green hydrogen market, through initiatives such as the \u201cStrategic Plan for Green Hydrogen\u201d, so that a \u201cstrong\u201d industry of this clean energy emerges.<\/p>\n

Jeannete Seppen, referred that her body’s action on climate change continues to be done, so that by 2050, the efficient use of clean sources will increase.<\/p>\n

Therefore, he defends more investment in green hydrogen in Angola, in the SADC region and in the European Union itself, whose results he says are for everyone.<\/p>\n

Faced with the current global crisis, he also says that it is necessary to accelerate the energy transition that presents new economic opportunities, development, energy security and the reduction of the \u201ccarbon footprint\u201d.<\/p>\n

The First Southern Africa and Europe Forum on Green Hydrogen brings together several specialists and will run until the 2nd of June.<\/p>\n

Green hydrogen is produced with electricity from clean and renewable energy sources, such as hydroelectric, wind, solar, biomass and biogas.<\/p>\n

Obtaining green hydrogen from renewable sources consists of decomposing water molecules into oxygen and hydrogen in order to produce electricity.<\/p>\n
