Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The deputy governor of Zaire for the political, social and economic sector, Afonso Nzolameso, Wednesday in Mbanza Kongo asked the traditional authorities for greater involvement in the fight against crime, with emphasis on fuel smuggling.<\/b><\/p>\n

Afonso Nzolameso made this appeal during a provincial consultation meeting with traditional authorities, promoted by the Provincial Office for Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports.<\/p>\n

According to the vice-governor, fuel smuggling, illegal immigration and other related crimes constitute a real threat to the country’s sovereignty, which is why he asked the traditional authorities to collaborate more with the competent authorities, denouncing the perpetrators.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe fight against these and other crimes is not just the task of the bodies of the Ministry of the Interior, but of the entire population and of the traditional authorities, in particular\u201d, he stressed.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the deputy governor said that the event aimed to collect contributions from local traditional authorities, which will be presented during the 4th national meeting of that fringe that will take place on the 7th and 8th of June this year, in Luanda.<\/p>\n

The event, he added, is a sovereign opportunity for the traditional authorities to expose their concerns so that, as far as possible, the Executive can resolve them.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Angolan State attaches particular importance to traditional authorities, insofar as, in the absence of State administration in some parts of the country, you fill this void\u201d, he recalled.<\/p>\n

Afonso Nzolameso acknowledged that the subsidy that the traditional authorities earn monthly is still derisory, for whom the Angolan Executive led by the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, continues to work to change this situation and dignify this figure even more.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, the traditional authorities raised issues related to the means of communication between municipal and communal headquarters, the expansion of the electricity and drinking water distribution network, among other concerns.<\/p>\n

The chiefs, mayors and neighborhood coordinators, from the six municipalities of the province of Zaire, took part in the consultation meeting.<\/p>\n
