Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The deputy governor for the political, economic and social sector of Cuanza Sul, Emi\u0301lia Tchinawalile, said this Thursday in Quilenda that the Government is committed to fulfilling the 11 commitments of children, in order to guarantee the full realization of their rights.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking at the provincial act alluding to the International Children’s Day, which is celebrated yesterday, the vice-governor recognized that there is still much to be done in terms of implementing the policies foreseen in the 11 commitments with children.<\/p>\n

\u201cSociety must reflect on the situation of minors and the challenges for the full realization of their rights. Unfortunately, the drama of family breakdown is visible in our society, the loss of fundamental values \u200b\u200bsuch as respect for life, as well as the growth of the phenomenon of avoiding parenthood, child labor and sexual violence\u201d, he lamented.<\/p>\n

In her turn, the head of services at the National Children’s Institute (INAC) in Cuanza Sul, Virwneza Matos, stressed that during the days alluding to the month of children, taking place until the 30th of June, various activities will be carried out, with a view to to reinforce the implementation and fulfillment of the 11 children’s commitments in the 12 municipalities of the province.<\/p>\n

He informed that during the first quarter of this year, more than 70 cases of violence against children were registered in the province.<\/p>\n

In this sense, he underlined that INAC will continue to promote lectures, reflection meetings, radio debates and marches with the aim of raising awareness among families and society about the need to protect this sensitive and defenseless fringe.<\/p>\n

In a message, the children asked the Government, parents and guardians to continue to safeguard the 11 children’s commitments.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe welcome the efforts made by the Executive to improve the quality of life for children across the country. We are in solidarity with minors who suffer because of war, violence, hunger and poverty and we promise to make an effort in their studies and to take care of public goods\u201d, they stressed.<\/p>\n

Under the motto \u201cMunicipalize the 11 commitments to better protect the child\u201d, Government members, municipal administrators, traditional and religious authorities, as well as more than 300 children from various social strata participated in the act.<\/p>\n

World Children’s Day was instituted by the United Nations to call the attention of adults to greater concern for their well-being, even occupying their free time.<\/p>\n

The date also serves as a reflection on the hundreds of children who continue to suffer from mistreatment, illness, hunger and discrimination.<\/p>\n
