Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Angola and Portugal reinforced, this Monday, bilateral cooperation, with the signing of 13 new agreements, including a strategic cooperation programme.<\/b><\/p>\n

These are legal instruments linked to sectors such as finance, higher education, infrastructure, media and defence.<\/p>\n

The signing of the documents was witnessed by the President of the Republic of Angola, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, and by the Head of the Portuguese Government, Anto\u0301nio Costa.<\/p>\n

Among the agreements is the Strategic Cooperation Program (PEC) 2023-2027, which reinforces the Portugal-Angola credit line.<\/p>\n

The package of agreements includes the Memorandum of Understanding between the Administration of the Ports of Sines and the Algarve (Portugal) with the Sociedade de Desenvolvimento da Barra do Dande (Angola).<\/p>\n

As for the new PEC, it will continue to favor areas such as education, health, justice and security. The understanding also aims to promote cooperation in areas such as tourism, administrative modernization, cooperation with the private sector, as well as qualification of human capital.<\/p>\n

The previous SGP (2018-2022), in the order of 535 million euros, had an overall execution rate of 122 percent.<\/p>\n

Also this Monday, the two States initialed the Bilateral Technical Cooperation Protocol between the Angolan Telecommunications Institute (INACOM) and the Portuguese National Communications Authority (ANACOM).<\/p>\n

In the field of social communication, the protocol between the Angolan Journalists Training Center (Cefojor) and the Portuguese News Agency (Lusa) stands out for professional training.<\/p>\n

As part of Anto\u0301nio Costa’s second official visit to Angola, contacts are also planned with representatives of more than 100 Portuguese companies in the sectors of construction, banking, finance, retail trade, energy, agri-food, technology and communications.<\/p>\n

According to data from the National Statistics Institute of Angola (INE), trade between the two countries has seen variations in recent years, influenced by the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

Angola and Portugal established diplomatic relations on March 9, 1976.<\/p>\n
