Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>A Civic Education project for training national actors on local elections was presented Tuesday, in Lubango, Hui\u0301la province, to various sectors of society, by the non-governmental organisation, Democracy Works Foundation (DWF) Angola.<\/b><\/p>\n

The event that also launched the Workshop on the same theme, lasted three hours, aimed to promote the participation of political parties, religious entities, electoral commission, deputies, academics and other actors, in the Elections and in the exercise of local authority .<\/p>\n

Speaking to the press, the project’s coordinator, Augusto Santana, stressed that it will be implemented throughout the country, in a first phase lasting 24 months, in partnership with Angolan civil society organizations, so that the different players understand more about the intricacies of the process.<\/p>\n

He referred that the more the laws and their dynamics are known, the more people will be interested in the process and make it more effective and believe.<\/p>\n

According to Augusto Santana, the DWF recognizes the role that political parties play in democracies, because however small it may be, it constitutes a nursery for the rulers of a given country.<\/p>\n

\u201c(…) therefore, the idea is that the better formed the political parties are, regardless of their size, the better rulers we will have and the better African democracies will be, reconciling science to their political knowledge, which is why we greatly value the role of academia in politics\u201d, he emphasized.<\/p>\n

DWF Angola is an international institution that works in several SADC countries, where local elections are already held and based on this experience, since 2020 they are designing a civic education program.<\/p>\n

Program that aims to strengthen the political culture of political parties and society in general, supporting the significant participation of women and young people in the leadership of parties to improve the internal dynamics already existing in their statutes and become stronger.<\/p>\n
