Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Correctional Services of Namibia intend to intensify cooperation with the Penitentiary Services of Angola, specifically in the agricultural and livestock sector.<\/b><\/p>\n

The claim was expressed this Thursday by the general director of Correctional Services in that country, Rafael Hamunyela, after visiting the Bentiaba prison, in the municipality of Moc\u0327a\u0302medes, in Namibe.<\/p>\n

In most Angolan prisons, inmates contribute to the enrichment of their diet, participating, within prison camps, in agricultural production and animal husbandry.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, Rafael Hamunyela stated that prison services in Angola have advanced in this segment (agro-livestock production), so it is in the interest of the Namibian prison authorities to \u201cdrink\u201d on the experience of Angola.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis cooperation will be deepened with the exchange of experiences of Angolan agronomists who in the second half of the current year will share knowledge with the Namibians\u201d, noted the director general of the Correctional Services of Namibia.<\/p>\n

The official promised, however, his country’s support in the implementation in Angola of technology that allows controlling the movements of inmates from all prisons.<\/p>\n

On the Angolan side, the director general of Penitentiary Services, commissioner Bernardo do Amaral Gourgel, referred to the existence of a memorandum between the two countries, within the framework of which the visit of Rafael Hamunyela and his delegation took place.<\/p>\n

In Angola, the Namibian delegation visited the penitentiary establishments of Benguela, Bentiaba (Namibe) and Cunene, where the level of agricultural and livestock production is significant.<\/p>\n
