Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The national news of a political nature, released in the last seven days, was marked by intense presidential activity.<\/b><\/p>\n

During the week, the Angolan Head of State, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, presided over the extraordinary summit of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (CIRGL).<\/p>\n

The meeting, which took place in Luanda, demanded the immediate cessation of hostilities in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Sudan.<\/p>\n

As for bilateral cooperation, the President of the Republic received the Prime Minister of Portugal, Anto\u0301nio Costa, who was on an official visit to Angola.<\/p>\n

The visit culminated in the signing of 13 new agreements, including a strategic cooperation program.<\/p>\n

Also in the week, President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o met, at the Cidade Alta Palace, in the Angolan capital, with his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.<\/p>\n

Following the meeting, delegations from both countries held talks, with President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o encouraging Egyptian investment in the country.<\/p>\n

In response, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who was in Luanda for 24 hours, encouraged his country’s businessmen to invest in the Angolan market, via the Angola-Egypt Joint Committee.<\/p>\n

The two countries agreed to cooperate in matters of Security and Public Order, as well as Technical Assistance on Groundwater.<\/p>\n

With a focus on strengthening the national economy, the holder of the Executive Power demanded greater speed in the process of diversifying the economy.<\/p>\n

Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o made this demand during the swearing in of the new Minister of State for Economic Coordination, Jose\u0301 de Lima Massano, who replaced Manuel Nunes Ju\u0301nior.<\/p>\n

Among the highlights was also the appointment of the new Board of Directors of the National Company of Posts and Telegraphs of Angola, led by Ederson de Sousa Machado.<\/p>\n

As part of the partnership with Cuba, the President of the Caribbean Island, Miguel Di\u0301az-Canel, invited his counterpart Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o to participate in the Summit of the \u201cGroup of 77\u201d plus China.<\/p>\n

The Summit takes place in Havana (Cuba) on the 15th and 16th of September this year. The invitation was conveyed by the Cuban ambassador to Angola, Esther Cardenas.<\/p>\n

On the African side, the Angolan Head of State sent a message to the President of Co\u0302te d’Ivoire, Alassane Ouattara, within the framework of strengthening existing diplomatic relations.<\/p>\n

The message was delivered by the Minister of State and Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic, Ada\u0303o de Almeida, who in Abidjan participated in an annual meeting called “Africa CEO Forum\u201d.<\/p>\n

In the political-diplomatic field, Angola attended the investiture of the President of Turkey, Recep Erdogan, with a delegation headed by the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperanc\u0327a Costa.<\/p>\n

In Brussels (Belgium), the President of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, participated, from the 7th to the 8th of this month, in the Annual Summit “Women Political Leader” (WPL), a meeting aimed at the representation of women in decision-making bodies.<\/p>\n

In Luanda, UNITA, an opposition party, held a march in which it presented the new provincial secretary, Adriano Abel Sapina\u0303la, the person in charge defended special attention to youth, for the construction of an inclusive, developed and prosperous Angola.<\/p>\n

In Dundo, province of Lunda Sul, 70 diamond stones of different carats were seized by the National Police, during a micro-operation that focused on the mining areas in the municipalities of Xa\u0301-muteba and Lucapa.<\/p>\n

In the operation, coordinated by the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC), 16 nets for washing gravel and various other materials used by prospectors were seized.<\/p>\n

In Cabinda province, authorities from the Republics of Angola and Congo analyzed security at the common border, including illegal immigration and fuel smuggling.<\/p>\n

Also in evidence during the week, the displacement of teams of deputies to different regions of the country where they evaluated the degree of implementation of various socio-economic projects.<\/p>\n
