Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Angola participates, from the 13th to the 14th of this month, in Dakar, the capital of Senegal, in the Global Conference of the Initiative for Transparency in the Extractive Industry (EITI).<\/b><\/p>\n

The Angolan Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, heads the delegation, made up, in addition to the government component, by representatives of the extractive industry in the field of mineral resources and hydrocarbons, as well as members of civil society in the National Coordination Committee (CNC) of the EITI.<\/p>\n

Diamantino Azevedo is due to deliver a speech at the event, focusing on the progress made in Angola with regard to transparency and efforts to develop the extractive sector, with a focus on prospecting and future exploitation of minerals considered critical to the energy transition.<\/p>\n

Among the leaders, extractive industry experts and academics and civil society are expected speeches by Macky Sall, President of Senegal, Helen Clark, Secretary General of EITI, Mohamed Ghazouani, President of Mauritania, Jonas Store, Prime Minister of Norway; Tony Blair, former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, among others, in a universe of more than one hundred and thirty personalities, representing countries of the five continents.<\/p>\n

At the same time, Diamantino Azevedo, President of the National Committee and Coordination of EITI in Angola and Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, is invited by the British Embassy in Senegal, to a reception on the evening of Monday, July 12th.<\/p>\n

President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o decided to apply for Angola to be a member of the EITI in 2020, creating the National Coordination Committee, through Presidential Dispatch n. 117|20 of 1 September, with the country being accepted as member No. 57 of the Initiative for Transparency in the Extractive Industry on 16 June 2022.<\/p>\n

At the end of this year, Angola is due to present its first Report that will reflect the advances in terms of transparency in the exploitation and application of financial resources from the national extractive industry.<\/p>\n
