Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>One hundred and eighty-four thousand and 463 liters of smuggled fuel were seized by the Customs Fiscal Police Unit on the border between the provinces of Lunda Norte and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), from June 2022 to the present date.<\/b><\/p>\n

The information was provided Monday, by the commander of the Unit in Lunda Norte, Jose\u0301 Marchal, during the commemoration of the 27th anniversary of the Customs Fiscal Police, stressing that of the 184,463 liters of fuel, 106,547 are diesel and 77,916 of gasoline.<\/p>\n

He said that the corporation also seized six alleged diamond stones, three diamond weighing scales, 493 boxes of frozen fish, 1,200 bags of cement, 750 bags of wheat flour, 199 bags of common salt, 100 drums of 25 liters of vegetable oil , 73 volumes of cassava roots, among others, for smuggling, destined for the DRC.<\/p>\n

He stressed that the seizure resulted from 190 infractions, of which 112 were fuel smuggling.<\/p>\n

Of these infractions, he continued, 190 different criminal proceedings were initiated, sent to the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) and the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), for due treatment.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, he ensured that the institution will remain firm and relentless in complying with the inspection of goods, guaranteeing the fight against tax crimes.<\/p>\n

To this end, training staff in the police and tax domain, raising academic levels, defining concrete operational measures aimed at reducing and clarifying tax offences, will be priorities.<\/p>\n

He stressed that the institution intends to build a unit from scratch, police stations and tax posts, increase the number of agents, with a view to raising operational levels.<\/p>\n

The Fiscal and Customs Police, created on the 12th of June 1996, under the terms of Dispatch no 89\/96, of the 12th of June, have the mission of inspecting, controlling, monitoring and accompanying goods subject to customs action that enter, transit and leave land, air, sea, river and lake borders, replacing the General Tax Administration (AGT) in areas where they are not present.<\/p>\n

They function as an auxiliary body in the execution of duties collection tasks and other customs charges, in duly designated places, for the collection of taxes.<\/p>\n
