Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Three hundred and sixty-nine pigs have died in the last two months, in coastal municipalities of Benguela province, as a result of African swine fever.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to the technician from the Provincial Office for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Gaspar Ingle\u0302s, who was speaking to Ra\u0301dio Benguela, the most affected municipalities are those of Benguela, with 257 dead heads, Catumbela, with 48 and Bai\u0301a Farta with 47. .<\/p>\n

In view of these data, Gaspar Ingle\u0302s informed that it was decided, from now on, to prohibit the intermunicipal and provincial movement of pig cattle.<\/p>\n

He referred that the measure appears to prevent the spread of the disease, avoiding the contagion of animals that are found in other parts of the province.<\/p>\n

The official added that the disease had already been reported for some time (seven months) in that area of \u200b\u200bBenguela.<\/p>\n

However, he said, lately it has been noticed that the disease is spreading.<\/p>\n

“We ask pig breeders to improve the health conditions in their corrals to improve the prevention of this disease”, he emphasized.<\/p>\n

He referred, above all, to traditional breeders who have semi-extensive breeding.<\/p>\n

African swine fever is a highly contagious disease caused by a double-stranded DNA virus belonging to the Asfarviridae family. The disease does not affect humans, being exclusive to domestic and wild suids (boars and crosses with domestic pigs).<\/p>\n
