Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Government of Luanda will create a network to denounce cases of noise pollution, to combat this evil, said this Thursday, the provincial director of Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports of Luanda, Tatiana Mbuta.<\/b><\/p>\n

The Provincial Government of Luanda announced, last Monday, the prohibition of cultural and recreational events, shows, dances, parties and religious activities in residential areas, public and open places throughout the territory of the capital city.<\/p>\n

He justifies the measure on the fact that he is receiving several denouncements and complaints from citizens due to noise pollution caused by cultural and recreational events held in residential areas, creating public health problems.<\/p>\n

Henceforth, specifically, these events will only be authorized by the Provincial Government of Luanda and by the Municipal Administrations, in closed spaces and in residential areas that have technical and safety conditions, in order to minimize noise pollution.<\/p>\n

However, the director reiterated, in an interview, that churches and promoters of events that are repeat offenders in the practice of noise pollution will have their activities closed.<\/p>\n

He recalled that noise pollution is an administrative offense punishable by a fine of more than 200,000 Kwanzas, depending on the type of activity, number of people and entry fee.<\/p>\n

He said they were studying other sanctions to discourage non-compliance, as the country lacks a regulation on noise pollution.<\/p>\n

He clarified that holding family parties does not require a license, but care must be taken with the people around, \u201ccommunicate and respect the rights of others\u201d.<\/p>\n

Regarding the sound level, he said that it depends on each activity. The WHO recommends that it be up to 50 decibels.<\/p>\n

Tatiana Mbute stated that the Government is not against event promoters, but intends to organize them, for the well-being of the people.<\/p>\n

Therefore, he continued, there must be common sense and concern for the well-being of the population .<\/p>\n
