Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>More than 500 young people from the province of Ui\u0301ge addressed Friday, the partial reduction of fuel subsidies, during a meeting promoted by the Provincial Secretariat of JMPLA in the region.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking at the opening act of the meeting, the first JMPLA provincial secretary in Ui\u0301ge, Faustino Nguange Sima\u0303o, said that the meeting aims to clarify the youth about the Executive’s measures to mitigate the social and economic impact in the country, especially the update of the price of gasoline that went from 160 to 300 kwanzas.<\/p>\n

He said that young people should continue to follow adequate information released by the media, in order to have better clarification on the measures outlined by the Executive, aimed at development and social well-being.<\/p>\n

In his speech, the provincial governor of Ui\u0301ge, Jose\u0301 Carvalho da Rocha, said that the gasoline price subsidy, decreed on 2 June this year, will bring several gains to the Angolan economy.<\/p>\n

He referred that the elimination of the fuel subsidy will be gradual and with measures to mitigate the social impact, including exception for taxi drivers, motorcycle taxi drivers, collective road transport and other activities.<\/p>\n

Jose\u0301 Carvalho da Rocha, without specifying the date for delivery of the subsidy cards in Ui\u0301ge, said only that the region had licensed 2,520 taxi drivers and motorcycle taxi drivers, out of a total of 4,394 registered.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, the governor explained to the young people about the various works under construction in the province, with emphasis on those in the energy, education and health sectors.<\/p>\n
