Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>A group of national and foreign citizens dedicated to helping illegal immigration in the municipality of Mbanza Kongo, province of Zaire, was dismantled in recent days by the National Police, an official source told.<\/b><\/p>\n

Composed of seven individuals, three of whom are from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the gang operated in the border commune of Luvo, 60 kilometers north of the city of Mbanza Kongo, according to the spokesman for the Department of Investigation of Criminal Illicit DIIP) of the Provincial Command of the National Police of Zaire, inspector Nicolau Garcia,.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the press this Tuesday, the source said that the members, one of whom was female, facilitated the illegal entry of foreigners into the country in exchange for money, using clandestine routes.<\/p>\n

He added that they are between 16 and 53 years old and were detained at the police checkpoint set up in Nkoko village, Luvo commune.<\/p>\n

With them, two motorcycles and a light vehicle were seized, which, presumably, were used to transport illegal immigrants.<\/p>\n

The DIIP spokesperson informed that Angolan citizens were forwarded to the Public Ministry, while foreigners answer to the Migration and Foreigners Service (SME).<\/p>\n

Police operations also culminated in the arrest of 14 other nationals, three of whom were female, involved in the commission of various crimes, as well as the seizure of 970 liters of fuel, for alleged contraband.<\/p>\n
