Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, will host this Thursday, in the city of Ui\u0301ge, the Meeting of the Local Governance Council (CGL), as part of a two-day working visit to that province.<\/b><\/p>\n

Upon arrival, at Manuel Quarta Punza Airport, the holder of the Executive Power received greetings from Governor<\/p>\n

Jose\u0301 Carvalho da Rocha, members of the Executive, traditional and religious authorities and the population.<\/p>\n

The Local Governance Council meeting will be attended by the governors of the country’s 18 provinces and heads of ministerial departments.<\/p>\n

The meeting will take place in two sessions, the first on Thursday (22) afternoon and the second on Friday morning (23).<\/p>\n

At the meeting, the provincial governor, Jose\u0301 Carvalho da Rocha, will present to the Head of State the balance and perspectives of social impact projects in Ui\u0301ge.<\/p>\n

The Local Governance Council is the collegiate auxiliary body of the President of the Republic in the formulation and follow-up of the execution of the governance policies of the State Administration at local level.<\/p>\n

Created through Presidential Legislative Decree no.3\/17, of October 13, the Local Governance Council meets every six months and is directed by the President of the Republic, assisted by the Vice-President of the Republic.<\/p>\n

It includes ministers of State, ministers, provincial governors, secretaries of the President of the Republic and the secretary of the Council of Ministers, among other entities linked to matters of local governance.<\/p>\n

The agenda of the President of the Republic in Ui\u0301ge includes a meeting with local authorities and a visit to the Agricultural Fair, which will expose the region’s potential in this economic field.<\/p>\n

With more than one million inhabitants, the province of Uige has 16 municipalities, namely Ambuila, Bembe, Buengas, Bungo, Damba, Alto Cauale, Maquela do Zombo, Milunga, Mucaba, Negage, Puri, Quimbele, Quitexe, Sanza Pombo, Songo and Uige.<\/p>\n

Agriculture and commerce are key sectors in Ui\u0301ge, which was once considered the coffee capital of Angola.<\/p>\n

The climate in Ui\u0301ge is hot, which is why it is conducive to the cultivation of coffee, cassava, oil palm, peanuts, sweet potatoes, beans, cocoa, sisal and others on a smaller scale.<\/p>\n

The last trip of the President of the Republic to the province of Ui\u0301ge took place in October 2021, where he also guided the meeting of the Local Governance Council.<\/p>\n
