Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The acting president of the National Spontaneous Movement (MNE), Anto\u0301nio Manuel Fiel Didi, this Friday, in Mbanza Kongo, encouraged the new management of this institution in the province of Zaire to work for the massification of sport at the level of local communities.<\/b><\/p>\n

The official, who was speaking at the swearing in of the new members of the provincial secretariat of the MNE, pointed out the need to promote tournaments at neighborhood level (gira-bairro), also called \u201cyouth cup\u201d.<\/p>\n

The purpose, according to Anto\u0301nio Manuel Fiel Didi, is to discover new talent and to boost local teams that compete in regional and national championships in the most diverse sports, with a view to their rise to the top levels.<\/p>\n

He highlighted the importance of universalizing the practice of sports among young people, who need to engage in socially useful activities in order to distance themselves from harmful practices.<\/p>\n

\u201cTake the gira-bairro to all the municipalities and the most remote areas, promote a tournament between the municipalities, in this way they will be occupying the youth\u201d, he reiterated.<\/p>\n

He recalled that one of the vocations of the MNE was to monitor and promote national sport, giving as an example the presence of about a thousand members in the 2006 World Cup in Germany, to support the national team, and in other international competitions.<\/p>\n

He explained that the National Spontaneous Movement was inactive for six years, for various reasons, with emphasis on the Covid-19 pandemic, so it is now intended to revitalize its activities throughout the national territory.<\/p>\n

“We want to get closer to the Executive to rescue the tradition of making things happen, such as the promotion of citizenship, solidarity, cultural and artistic, recreational and sports activities among the Angolan youth, among other actions”, he underlined.<\/p>\n

The director of the Provincial Office for Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports, Nzuzi Makiese, assured that the local Government will support the initiatives of the MNE, as well as other youth organisations, as long as they defend the public interest.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, Osvaldo Benjamim was sworn in as provincial secretary of the MNE, committing himself to the mission of raising and boosting the institution’s activity in this region of the country.<\/p>\n

The organic structure of the provincial secretariat of the MNE includes assistant secretaries for the financial areas, communities and social support, development projects and sports massification, including six members who represent the six municipalities of Zaire.<\/p>\n

Founded in December 1991, the MNE is a philanthropic association, whose social object consists of exalting patriotism, citizenship, rescuing moral and civic values, promoting recreational activities to occupy youth’s free time and supporting sports movement.<\/p>\n
