{"id":37865,"date":"2023-06-23T17:31:29","date_gmt":"2023-06-23T17:31:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\/all-news\/ngeya-festival-reinforces-the-cultural-identity-of-the-east-of-the-country"},"modified":"2023-06-23T18:55:25","modified_gmt":"2023-06-23T18:55:25","slug":"ngeya-festival-reinforces-the-cultural-identity-of-the-east-of-the-country","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\/all-news\/ngeya-festival-reinforces-the-cultural-identity-of-the-east-of-the-country","title":{"rendered":"Ngeya Festival reinforces the cultural identity of the east of the country"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Angola. <\/strong><\/span><b>Cultural agents highlighted, this Wednesday, in Luena, that the 1st East Regional Music and Dance Festival, called Ngeya, will be able to develop local culture, rescuing the identity and strengthening the historical ethnic traits of the local population.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Speaking to ANGOP, 48 hours before the event, which will take place at the Tourist Complex of the Monument to Peace, cultural agents point out as other gains the exhibition of creations by local artists, establishment of partnerships, promotion and reinforcement of cultural unity .<\/p>\n<p>For the representative of the National Union of Artists and Composers &#8211; Author Society (UNAC \u2013 SA), Raimundo da Silva \u201cRey Lex\u201d, the event will contribute to the promotion, preservation and appreciation of the culture of the peoples of the provinces of Moxico, Lunda Sul and Lunda Norte, which make up the eastern region of the country.<\/p>\n<p>Also a musician, Rey Lex said it was a moment for art makers, with emphasis on master chefs and artisans, to really demonstrate their talents based on the vast local culture.<\/p>\n<p>In turn, the dance teacher and dancer, Basi\u0301lio Pinto, said it was a privilege to participate in an event of this magnitude that will serve to exalt the eastern regional culture.<\/p>\n<p>The historian and cultural researcher, Salvador Cacoma, said that the Ngeya festival has a unique value, as it is the first, of great magnitude, to be held since 1975, the year in which the country achieved National Independence.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the timing of the festival is opportune, given the climate of peace in the country, hence the appeal to the peoples of the region to hold a cultural event on the scale of the event.<\/p>\n<p>The historian said that the event, which includes an exhibition of gastronomic potential and handicrafts, will serve to disseminate other cultural values \u200b\u200bin the region, such as tourism.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the director of the Monumento a\u0300 Paz Tourist and Cultural Complex, Raimundo Zango Machai, understands that Ngeya will bring harmony among the region&#8217;s musicians, healthy challenge, science and art in the demonstrations of their cultures.<\/p>\n<p>Ngeya (Cokwe term which in Portuguese means euphoria or party), is a project sponsored by Sociedade Mineira de Catoca, within the scope of the social responsibility program, which aims to rescue intercultural dialogue, meeting generations and building legacies to promote multicultural of these three provinces of Angola.<\/p>\n<p>With 126 artists from Moxico, Lunda Sul and Lunda Norte, the non-profit event will also highlight the greatness of the culture of the east of the country, whose participants, three groups from each province, will be able to receive one million kwanzas, while the two invited groups, from the host province, will benefit from 500 thousand kwanzas each.<\/p>\n<p>In June 2022, the experimental edition was held in the province of Lunda Norte, in the city of Dundo.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\">Angola<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Angola.
