Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The holding of the agricultural and livestock fair in Ui\u0301ge, which brings together more than 26 exhibitors from the province’s 16 municipalities, demonstrates the region’s potential in the production of various rural products.<\/b><\/p>\n

In addition to the exhibition of coffee, bananas, cassava, oranges and other products from the countryside, fish farming and the processing of wood and other raw materials are also part of the exhibition, visited friday by the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o.<\/p>\n

The fair’s coordinator, Delfina Henriques, explained that the exhibition will last for two days and aims to demonstrate the agricultural and livestock potential of the region.<\/p>\n

Bembe’s municipal administrator, Gildo Unige\u0301nito, said it was an opportunity to showcase the agricultural potential of the locality he directs.<\/p>\n

He explained that Bembe is committed to diversified agricultural production, but the emphasis is on orange production, as it is the largest producer of this crop in the region.<\/p>\n

In turn, the municipal administrator of Maquela do Zombo, Samalando Muginga, said that the locality stands out in the production of peanuts (ginguba), potatoes, cassava and ginger.<\/p>\n

He referred that the municipality is marking steps in the production of ginger and sesame, registering a production of more than three thousand tons, a number that could increase in the current agricultural season.<\/p>\n

Despite the tendency to increase production in the locality, the administrator said that the flow of production is still the biggest constraint, due to the poor state of communication routes.<\/p>\n

Production of crackers from cassava flour<\/p>\n

The visitors’ attention was drawn to the production of biscuits made from cassava, pumpkin and yam flour, in an initiative by the CIMJ Group.<\/p>\n

The head of the company, Anto\u0301nio Mampinga Mbengui, said that the idea came about when he realized that some children do not eat boiled cassava.<\/p>\n

The person in charge informed that the company initially produces 5,000 packages of biscuits a day and the intention is to increase to 54,000, with the installation of five production lines.<\/p>\n

With this bet, depending on funding, jobs will increase from 15 to more than 400.<\/p>\n

About agricultural production in Ui\u0301ge<\/p>\n

The province of Ui\u0301ge harvested, in the 2021\/2022 agricultural year, six million and 41 thousand tons of various agricultural products (cassava, banana, beans, corn, peanuts and other products from the countryside).<\/p>\n

235,475 households were involved in the agricultural campaign, 132 of which were agricultural cooperatives and 868 peasant associations.<\/p>\n

The 2021\/22 agricultural campaign covered a cultivation area of \u200b\u200b692 thousand 377 hectares of land.<\/p>\n

For the 2022\/23 agricultural year, the province of Ui\u0301ge expects a harvest of around seven million and 41,706 tons of various products.<\/p>\n
