Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Angola will participate today until next Friday, in Nairobi (Kenya), in the fifth United Nations Environment Assembly and in the special session commemorating the 50th anniversary of the creation of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).<\/b><\/p>\n

The Angolan delegation is headed by the Minister of State for the Social Area, Carolina Cerqueira, representing the President of the Republic, Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o. The governor will speak today.<\/p>\n

The delegation is also made up of the Secretary of State for the Environment, Paula Francisco, the ambassador and permanent representative of Angola to the UN Offices in Nairobi, Sianga Ab\u00edlio, national directors and officials from the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Environment, staff from the Office of the Minister of State for Social Affairs and Embassy of Angola in Kenya.<\/p>\n

Yesterday morning, the Minister of State guided a consultation meeting with the Angolan delegation, in which the agenda of the meetings and the country’s position in relation to the various issues under discussion were analyzed in the light of the National Environment Strategy and the Government’s commitment. in promoting sustainable development and protecting the national ecosystem and biodiversity.<\/p>\n

The United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) brings together representatives from the 193 UN Member States, business, civil society and other stakeholders to agree on policies to address the world’s most pressing environmental challenges.<\/p>\n

The event will take place under the theme “Strengthening actions so that nature achieves the goals of sustainable development”.<\/p>\n

The fifth session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-5) provides leadership, drives intergovernmental action on environmental issues and contributes to the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). ).<\/p>\n
