Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Musician Paulo Flores this Friday asked Pope Francis for a blessing for Angola and the peoples of Africa, during a meeting of the Pontiff, with several artists, in the Vatican.<\/b><\/p>\n

The Angolan musician is part of a range of artists from various areas invited by the Pope to represent Angola and the Portuguese language.<\/p>\n

“I asked Pope Francis to bless my rosary on behalf of Angola and the peoples of Africa. The Holy Father blessed and smiled at me”, wrote the artist on his official Facebook page.<\/p>\n

The act is part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the meeting of Pope Paul VI with artists, which took place on June 23, 1973.<\/p>\n

Paulo Flores is invited by the Holy See taking into account the artistic career and national relevance of the Angolan author.<\/p>\n

Paulo Flores is one of the biggest names in popular music in Angola, “ambassador” of semba in the world. He is respected by several generations of Angolan musicians, thanks to the various hits he has collected over more than 30 years of career.<\/p>\n

Paulo Flores, whose songs deal with different themes of the daily life of Angolans, released his first album in 1988.<\/p>\n

Author, composer and performer, with 16 albums on the market, Paulo Flores is one of the main references of Angolan music and a tireless defender of the Semba style. His voice is inspired by Luanda’s urban tradition and his music tells stories of yesterday, yesterday and today.<\/p>\n

In his compositions, Paulo Flores explores the critical eye of the generation that grew up after independence. The artist finds the right words to talk about the resistance capacity of the Angolan people, their energy and vitality, expressed in music and dance.<\/p>\n

Winner of the 2010 Top of the Most Beloved, Paulo Flores is the author of several hits in Angolan music, with emphasis on \u201cReencontro\u201d, \u201cInocente\u201d, \u201cMakalakato\u201d, \u201cCorac\u0327a\u0303o Farrapo\u201d and \u201cCoisas da terra\u201d.<\/p>\n
