Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Union of the Comoros and acting African Union (AU), Azali Assoumani, warned, this Tuesday, in Luanda, of the union of efforts around the situation of the DRC, to avoid the spread to other countries of the region.<\/b><\/p>\n

Azali Assoumani was speaking at the Summit of Heads of States and Governments of the political and economic regions of Africa, within the framework of coordinating efforts for the pacification of the African continent, in particular the east of the DRC.<\/p>\n

The Statesman asked for the intensification of cooperation in favor of the DRC, as well as considered the adoption of effective political solutions necessary, to avoid duplication of efforts and competition between regional mechanisms.<\/p>\n

The acting President of the continental organization suggested, on the occasion, the creation of a coordination group composed of representatives of the AU, regional communities and the UN, within the framework of the pacification of the east of the DRC,<\/p>\n

In turn, the president of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki, defended engagement in the search for African solutions to the continent’s problems.<\/p>\n

He corroborates the need to coordinate efforts for the efficiency and parsimonious management of that country’s resources within the framework of engagements for the establishment of peace, through close and harmonious cooperation between the regional blocs.<\/p>\n

Moussa Faki condemned the killing of civilians on the Uganda-DRC border.<\/p>\n

He called for vigorous action to combat acts that violate international human and humanitarian rights.<\/p>\n

The inter-regional meeting is part of the deliberations of the XI Extraordinary Summit of Heads of State of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (CIRGL), held on the 3rd of this month, in Luanda, on an initiative of the President of Angola, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o.<\/p>\n

Participating in the quadripartite meeting are the President of the Union of the Comoros and acting of the African Union, Azali Assoumani, the Head of State of Zimbabwe and acting President of the Peace and Security Council of the African Union, Emmerson Mnangagwa, and the President of Gabon, and member of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), Ali Bongo.<\/p>\n

Also present are the President of Burundi and the East African Community (EAC), Evarist Ndayishimiye, the Head of State of the Democratic Republic of Congo, and the acting President of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), Fe\u0301lix Tshisekedi, the former President of Kenya and CAO Designated Facilitator Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta.<\/p>\n

The quadripartite summit also features the Vice-President of Namibia, Nangolo Mbumba, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Rwanda, Vincent Biruta, the President of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahammat, Ambassador Parfait Onanga, representative of the Secretary General of UN, as well as the President of the ECCAS Commission, and the Executive Secretaries of IRGL, SADC and CAO.<\/p>\n
