Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The coordinator of the deputies of the Electoral Circle of the province of Bie\u0301, Anasta\u0301cio Severino Sambowe, defended Tuesday, in Cuito, greater speed in the conclusion of the works of the provincial Hospital, aiming at the improvement of the medical\/drug assistance to the population.<\/b><\/p>\n

The requalification works of the Bie\u0301 Provincial Hospital, which started in April 2020 and with a degree of physical execution of 52 percent, have been paralyzed for a year, allegedly due to lack of funds.<\/p>\n

This is the refurbishment and expansion of the hospital unit which, after completion, will have 300 beds, against the current 230, in addition to two operating rooms, emergency bench, observation room, intensive care, radiology, stomatology , laundry, incinerator and other services.<\/p>\n

After the verification visit, the coordinator of the Nucleus of deputies residing in Bie\u0301, Anasta\u0301cio Severino Sambowe, said that the conclusion of the works was essential to guarantee adequate medical assistance to citizens.<\/p>\n

The parliamentarian recommended compliance with the contractual deadlines, by the contractor, as soon as the funds are released.<\/p>\n

Awarded to the company Joel e Filhos Lda, the works had an initial budget of Kwanzas 603 million and, at the beginning of this year, benefited from an increase of KZ 300 million, within the scope of the Municipalities Integrated Intervention Plan (PIIM).<\/p>\n

The value enabled the completion of the roof of six blocks, application of the mosaic and tiles, window frames and others, lacking the placement of the roof of the last block, internal and external painting, sidewalks and the pavement.<\/p>\n

It should be noted that in 2012, the local government built, in the same premises, a temporary hospital, with 150 beds that, at the moment, accommodate the patients, while the works are in progress.<\/p>\n

With an estimated population of two million inhabitants, the province of Bie\u0301 has a Health System made up of 186 health units, 127 of which are health posts, 37 centres, of which five are for mothers and children, six missionary hospitals, nine municipal, one general and \u201cWalter Stranguay\u201d, the latter being the most famous.<\/p>\n

The work is carried out by 3,705 professionals, including doctors, nurses and diagnostic and therapeutic technicians, spread across the municipalities of Andulo, Camacupa, Catabola, Cuemba, Chinguar, Cuito, Cunhinga, Chitemmbo and Nha\u0302rea.<\/p>\n
