Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The acting president of the National Assembly, Ame\u0301rico Cuononoca, defended Wednesday, in Luanda, the need for convergence of objectives between the entities that intervene in the financial activity of the State.<\/b><\/p>\n

The parliamentarian was speaking at the opening of the seminar on Public Accounts, addressed to the deputies, having referred that the influence of public finances in the economy is evaluated based on the State’s action on public sector expenses, in order to achieve the objectives of budgetary policy.<\/p>\n

Likewise, he underlined, every effort aimed at improving public accounts must converge with the objectives pursued by the UN, by the countries of Southern Africa and by all other organizations that fight for the economic and social well-being of peoples.<\/p>\n

According to Ame\u0301rico Cuononoca, with a view to building the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development, everyone is asked to assume accountability as a true flag, which expresses a commitment to be assumed by all States, as well as the control and the supervision of public acts that guarantee growth and sustainable development.<\/p>\n

Treasury supervision, he said, should seek to balance public accounts with the General State Budget (OGE), reducing the deficit in the respective accounts.<\/p>\n

Within the framework of improving Parliament’s performance in the process of monitoring and controlling public finances, Angolan MPs will reinforce, yesterday and Thursday, their knowledge on public accounts, in an action developed by the SADC Public Accounts Committee (SADCOPAC).<\/p>\n

The training is guided by members of this regional body and provides for the sharing of experiences related to the matter between representatives of the parliaments of the countries that make up the organization, with emphasis on the presidents of the Economy and Finance Commission of the AN, Aia-Eza da Silva, and from SADCOPAC, Warren Muambazi.<\/p>\n

In his speech, Warren Mwambazi, also a Zambian deputy, underlined the importance of the event in terms of promoting accountability and oversight of governments and jurisdictions, as well as financial management mechanisms to strengthen the accounting of public funds in the region.<\/p>\n

The meeting addresses, among others, topics such as \u201cThe Parliament\/supervision committees and the relationship with the Court of Auditors and audit institutions\u201d, \u201cIntroduction to the SADCOPAC training action plan\u201d, \u201cSADCOPAC – Training of public accounts committees \u201d, \u201cPerformance of the Parliament of Angola in the process of supervision and control of public finances\u201d and \u201cThe role of parliament in supervision and accountability\u201d.<\/p>\n

Created in 2003, at SADC level, SADCOPAC is the body of that regional institution that operates in the field of finance and public accounts.<\/p>\n
