Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of the Interior, Euge\u0301nio Laborinho, considered, this Wednesday, in Luanda, the cooperation relations with Cape Verde in the police field to be excellent.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to the official, who was speaking during a meeting with the Cape Verdean Minister of Communities, Jorge Mauri\u0301cio dos Santos, cooperation between the institutions of the two countries is based on eight legal instruments, with emphasis on the technical cooperation agreement in matters of security and public order, signed on 28 July 2003.<\/p>\n

Euge\u0301nio Laborinho also referred to the memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of the Interior of Angola and the Ministry of Internal Administration of Cape Verde, initialed in Praia, on 21 March 2012.<\/p>\n

The leaders analyzed cooperation in the field of training specialists for the national police forces of the two States.<\/p>\n

The Angolan official underlined that, within the scope of the implementation of the aforementioned legal instruments, the Police of Cape Verde has been benefiting from various training actions, mainly aimed at training its staff, in the most distinct areas of specialties, preventing and combating crime, exchange of information and experience, including the exchange of delegations.<\/p>\n

He said that 10 Cape Verdean police officers are currently attending a degree course at the Higher Institute of Police and Criminal Sciences Osvaldo Serra Van-Du\u0301nem.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the minister informed the Cape Verde minister of the existence of 4,851 Cape Verdean citizens in Angola.<\/p>\n

Euge\u0301nio Laborinho stressed that, of the above-mentioned number, 43 hold a work visa, 68 have a temporary stay visa, 4,723 have a residence permit and 17 are students.<\/p>\n

For his part, the Cape Verdean official said that Angola plays an important role in the performance of the CPLP, hence it is a strategic partner for Cape Verde.<\/p>\n
