Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Six thousand and 498 families in the municipality of Cuchi, province of Cuando Cubango, started this Thursday to receive the second installment of the monetary values \u200b\u200bof the Kwenda project, increasing the amount from 8,500 kwanzas to Kz 11,000 per month.<\/b><\/p>\n

The head of the provincial department of the Local Development Institute (FAS), Zeferino Cavalo, explained that each family is receiving 66 thousand kwanzas, equivalent to six months.<\/p>\n

The official said that, under Presidential Decree 132\/23 of 1 June, the program for the municipality of Cuchi will disburse AOA 400 million.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the person in charge exhorted the beneficiary families to use the values \u200b\u200bcorrectly, investing not only in the purchase of food goods for consumption, but also in income-generating activities.<\/p>\n

He recalled that, in the first phase of the implementation of the Kwenda program in the province, 18,663 households in the municipalities of Cuito Cuanavale and Cuchi were covered.<\/p>\n

In turn, the municipal director of Social Action, Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland in Cuchi, Prude\u0302ncia Feliciano, praised the implementation of the project in the region, underlining that it is contributing to the improvement of the quality of life of vulnerable families, with the creation of small business.<\/p>\n

Created in 2020, Kwenda is an Angolan Executive program, which aims to create policies to support the most vulnerable families.<\/p>\n

Operationalized by the Social Support Fund, the project lasts for three years and covers four components, namely Social Monetary Transfers, Productive Inclusion, Municipalization of Social Action and Reinforcement of the Single Social Register.<\/p>\n

It is valued at USD 420 million and is funded by the World Bank with USD 320 million. The other 100 million come from the National Treasury.<\/p>\n
