Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Television rights were pointed out (Friday), in the country’s capital, as being of great help in the sustainability and maintenance of sports clubs in Angola, by the president of Petro de Luanda, Toma\u0301s Faria, at the 3rd edition of the Business Conference (CONFEND).<\/b><\/p>\n

In a lecture on one of the themes, at the sports sector forum, the leader defended the need for the Government’s support, in legislation and that there be openness, so that televisions can participate in the show in a competitive way, as it was until very recently.<\/p>\n

When talking about \u201cSustainability Challenges for Sports Clubs\u201d, at the opening of CONFENDA, he stressed that, in addition to television rights, marketing and operation of stadiums and pavilions, end up bringing good revenue.<\/p>\n

Transmitting some experience that is already practiced in his club, he appealed to those present for a greater involvement of all in favor of sustainable sport.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday, we’ve changed the paradigm at the club, because revenue doesn’t just come from the owner. You should change the way, instead of asking your partner for money you should help them earn more, \u201dhe said.<\/p>\n

To do so, he states that there is a good product and that the market offers, it must be, above all, a good team, that makes its supporters proud and that participates in competitions that pay.<\/p>\n

As examples, he spoke of the group stages of the Champions League and the Confederation Cup, as well as the African Basketball League (BAL).<\/p>\n

In turn, Wilson Faria, president of Wiliete Sport Clube de Benguela, in the theme \u201cSport is Business\u201d, concluded that sport is, in addition to practice, a source of income.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is impossible to do sport without the presence of the State, which must invest and then recover some revenue, through taxes and social security\u201d, he explained.<\/p>\n

Wilson Faria argued that the current funding for sport is bankrupt, due to the fact that sport in Angola does not yet bring in so much revenue. He advised national sports associations to adopt a global model, which involves a culture of membership dues, as well as relating infrastructures to institutions in the sector.<\/p>\n

As for the forum, on Saturday, on the second day, between 9 am and 10 am, there will be a workshop, with the theme \u201cLeading in Sport\u201d, whose speaker will be Alexandre Faria, president of Estoril Praia.<\/p>\n

In the other panel, the \u201cImportance of Training in Clubs\u201d will be discussed.<\/p>\n

The present edition of CONFENDA, which brings together sports leaders, coaches, infrastructure managers and former practitioners, closes next Sunday, with the intervention of national and foreign lecturers.<\/p>\n
