Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Order of Architects of Angola reaffirmed (Saturday) the reinforcement of actions against the illegal exercise of the profession, in order to mitigate situations inherent to the poor quality of land use projects in the country.<\/b><\/p>\n

The information was provided by the president of the aforementioned order, Celestino Chitonho, who added that the number of architects who practice their profession illegally is growing, which has already resulted in more than 200 cases filed by the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC).<\/p>\n

He informed that in many of these cases<\/p>\n

resort to forgery of documents of the Order of Architects of Angola, among other practices that configure crimes.<\/p>\n

As for the technical aspect of the profession, he made it clear that the success of a work depends, to a large extent, on a good project. “Our mission as an Order of Architects (…) is based on designing good projects, combined with staff training”.<\/p>\n

He underlined that architecture should be carried out by those who are qualified and enrolled in the Order.<\/p>\n

Illegal architects, continued the official, are at the base of the poor quality of the works, for not being equipped with competence and unqualified for the exercise of the profession.<\/p>\n

The official, who was speaking during a training course aimed at architects in the municipality of Luanda, pointed out Luanda as the province with the highest incidence of cases linked to architects who are not trained, nor qualified to practice the profession.<\/p>\n

The Order of Architects of Angola has more than a thousand registered and legalized members.<\/p>\n

This Saturday’s training was a partnership with the Luanda Administration and aimed at giving methodological guidance for the exercise of the profession.<\/p>\n
