Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The summit between the political and economic regions of Africa, which addressed the conflict in East DRC and held in Luanda (Angola) under the guidance of President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, was the political highlight of the week that ends Saturday.<\/b><\/p>\n

The meeting was attended by leaders from four regional bodies in Africa, namely the Southern African Development Community (SADC), the International Conference for the Great Lakes Region (IRGL), the East African Community (EAC) and the Central African States (ECCAS), under the auspices of the African Union (AU) and monitoring by the United Nations (UN).<\/p>\n

Determined the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of armed groups operating in the East of the DRC, with emphasis on the M-23, to achieve peace and security in this region and the return of refugees and displaced persons to their areas of origin, and the creation of corridors humanitarian aid to facilitate assistance to the victims of this conflict.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o reinforced the need to reinforce inter-regional cooperation and the normalization of political-diplomatic relations between the Democratic Republics of Congo and Rwanda, including the cessation of hostilities and the immediate withdrawal of positions occupied by the M23 to cantonment centres.<\/p>\n

The appointment of A\u0302ngelo de Barros da Veiga Tavares as Inspector General of State Administration (IGAE), by the President of the Republic, was also a political highlight of the week.<\/p>\n

Before the appointment, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o exonerated Angela da Veigas Tavares from the position of advisor to the President of the Republic.<\/p>\n

The Angolan Head of State heard from the ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium, Josef Smets, the expression of interest in increasing cooperation with Angola in the port, railway and diamond sectors.<\/p>\n

From the vice-president of the World Bank for Eastern and Southern Africa, Victoria Kwakwa, the President of the Republic heard the will of this institution to deepen cooperation, with main focus on the socio-economic development of Angolans.<\/p>\n

This week, issues related to the organization of the Red Cross of Angola (CVA) were under analysis in an audience that the Head of State granted to the president of the institution, Delfina Cumandala.<\/p>\n

In the parliamentary chapter, the president of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, signed in the city of Praia an amendment to the Protocol of cooperation between the two parliaments, decisive for the consolidation of democracy, peace, human rights and good governance in Angola and in Cape Green.<\/p>\n

Carolina Cerqueira was also in the Portuguese capital to participate in the celebrations of the International Day of Parliamentaryism.<\/p>\n

This week, the Chief of General Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), Aviation General Altino dos Santos, defended the creation of the National Maritime High Authority (AAMN) to facilitate the coordination of actions in favor of the national interest.<\/p>\n

General Altino dos Santos suggests that the National Maritime Authority, once created, be a body that guarantees the safety and control of navigation, preservation of natural resources, protection of underwater cultural heritage and the marine environment and prevention and combat of pollution.<\/p>\n

The general was speaking at the opening of the festivities for the 47th anniversary of the founding of the Angolan Navy (MGA).<\/p>\n

In the period in question, a bust of the first President of Angola, Anto\u0301nio Agostinho Neto, installed in one of the gardens of Rome, capital of Italy, was unveiled in honor of the Italians who contributed to the fight against colonialism on the African continent.<\/p>\n

The unveiling of the bust was witnessed by the writer Maria Euge\u0301nia Neto, president of the Agostinho Neto Foundation (FAN) and widow of the founder of the Angolan Nation, who died in 1979, in Moscow, Russia.<\/p>\n
