Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, travels to Benguela province on Monday, for a two-day working visit.<\/b><\/p>\n

The trip is related to the concession of rail and logistics services to support the Lobito Corridor.<\/p>\n

The information was released this Sunday by the Secretary for Communication and Press Affairs of the President of the Republic, Lui\u0301s Fernando.<\/p>\n

In the city of Lobito (Benguela) the Heads of State of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilema, and of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Fe\u0301liz Tshisekedi, will also be present .<\/p>\n

The Presidents of Zambia and the DRC are expected Monday morning at Catumbela airport, Benguela province.<\/p>\n

According to Lui\u0301s Fernando, on Tuesday “a broad program is planned to mark the start of the strategic service of the Lobito Corridor”, with explanations on how everything should work.<\/p>\n

The explanations include information about which companies joined the consortium, for the expansion and progress of that important route for the flow of goods and movement of people.<\/p>\n

The three heads of state will return to the capitals of their respective countries at the end of Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Lobito Corridor<\/p>\n

The Lobito Corridor extends from the port of Lobito, bathed by the Atlantic Ocean, and crosses Angola from West to East, passing through the provinces of Benguela, Huambo, Bie\u0301 and Moxico.<\/p>\n

It covers the mining areas of Katanga Province, DRC, and Copperbelt, Zambia.<\/p>\n

The corridor represents the shortest route to a port from the mineral-rich areas of DRC and Zambia.<\/p>\n

For the Southern African Development Community (SADC), the aforementioned corridor is seen as an important means of development in the region, with benefits for Angola and neighboring countries (DRC and Zambia).<\/p>\n
