Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, left Luanda, this Monday, bound for Benguela province, for a two-day working visit.<\/b><\/p>\n

At the Luanda Military Air Base, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o received farewell greetings from the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperanc\u0327a Costa, and members of the Executive.<\/p>\n

In Benguela province, the Head of State will witness, on Tuesday, the transfer of rail services and support logistics for the Lobito Corridor to the Consortium that will manage, under a concession, that strategic transport route.<\/p>\n

Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o will be joined by Presidents Hakainde Hichilema, from Zambia, and Fe\u0301lix Tshisekedi, from the Democratic Republic of Congo, who were invited to the ceremony.<\/p>\n

The three Heads of State will return to the capitals of their respective countries at the end of Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

The Lobito corridor is formed by the city’s port and the Benguela Railway. The two structures span more than 1300 kilometres.<\/p>\n

The route is the fastest export route for copper, cobalt and other ores to countries such as Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo.<\/p>\n

For the Southern African Development Community (SADC), the aforementioned corridor is seen as an important means of development in the region, with benefits for Angola and neighboring countries (DRC and Zambia).<\/p>\n
