Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>One thousand and five passports were issued, between January and June of this year, by the Migration and Foreigners Service (SME) in Huambo province, 795 more than in the same period of 2022.<\/b><\/p>\n

The information was provided, this Wednesday, by the spokeswoman for this body of the Ministry of the Interior in Huambo province, chief migration inspector Marlene Matokissa, when pointing out the lifting of the sanitary fence, to contain the spread of Covid-19, as the main cause of the increase in passport issuance.<\/p>\n

He highlighted that the high number of passports handled by the SME also resulted from the reduction of bureaucracy and the speed of the issuing process, from Luanda, the country’s capital, with a deadline of one month, against the previous three months.<\/p>\n

Despite the speed given by the body, the official regretted the fact that there are 533 ordinary passports to be picked up at the SME counter, a situation that requires common sense from citizens for the quick collection of their respective documents.<\/p>\n

He referred that this situation creates operational constraints in the institution, which must store the passports, until the manifestation of the citizens who own them.<\/p>\n

The official informed that during the period under review, 399 processes were received for migratory acts of foreigners, ranging from tourist, temporary stay and work visas, as well as residence cards and provisional declarations for refugees.<\/p>\n

He made it known that the SME in Huambo province has under its control 1,432 foreign citizens of different nationalities and statuses, with greater predominance for Chinese.<\/p>\n

He added that, in addition to Huambo municipality, seat of the province with the same name, the SME has representations in Bailundo, Caa\u0301la, Cachiungo, Londuimbali and Ucuma, for the treatment of migratory acts, both of national citizens and foreigners.<\/p>\n

He recalled that for the issuance of passports it is necessary, among others, a color photocopy of the Identity Card or birth certificate for children under five years old, certificate of residence, two photographs, duly completed form and 30,500 Kwanzas in fees.<\/p>\n

Founded in April 1976, the SME is the body of the Ministry of the Interior dedicated to the execution of policies and legislative and regulatory measures related to the entry, transit, exit and control of the stay and activities of foreign citizens in Angola.<\/p>\n
