Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The director of Social Action, Family and Gender Equality in Cuanza Sul, Marta Muhongo, said Friday, in Sumbe, that the local government will continue to implement actions with a view to ensuring the social inclusion of people with disabilities.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking at the seminar on \u201cThe protocol of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities\u201d, the official recalled that the Executive has adopted policies with the aim of allowing this fringe access to education, the job market , social security, entrepreneurship, sport, among others.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Government has fulfilled the commitments assumed in the protocol of the African Charter on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, with the implementation of various actions aimed at raising society’s awareness of the duties and inclusion of these citizens, as well as prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and integration, support for their families and removal of obstacles to mobility on that fringe\u201d, he stressed.<\/p>\n

In turn, the jurist Anto\u0301nio Ventura highlighted the policies drawn up by the Executive aimed at guaranteeing more equal opportunities and social protection for people with disabilities.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe must recognize the implementation by the Executive of programs to help people with disabilities, but it is important that these policies are applied in practice. We still have some constraints, such as the lack of conditions in the education system for the inclusion of this fringe of society, as well as accessibility difficulties\u201d, he stressed.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, the participants addressed issues related to the laws on the rights of people with disabilities, protection strategies for this fringe, assistance programs, among others.<\/p>\n

Participating in the event, promoted by the National Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired of Angola (ANCAA), were school principals, teachers, the visually impaired, among other guests.<\/p>\n
