Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Angolan ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union (AU) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), Miguel Bembe, addressed, in separate meetings, with his counterparts from Senegal, Malick Ndao, and from Uruguay, Ne\u0301stor Alejandro Rosa Navarro, the development of cooperation with these states.<\/b><\/p>\n

With Malick Ndao, recently appointed as his country’s first extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador to Angola, with resident status, he addressed issues related to the consolidation and dynamization of bilateral relations.<\/p>\n

The two interlocutors considered that the relations of friendship and cooperation between Angola and Senegal have known a new dynamic, since 2021, with the opening of the Embassy of Angola in Dakar and the signing of several legal instruments, in 2022.<\/p>\n

Among these instruments are the General Cooperation Agreement in the Economic, Technical, Scientific and Cultural domains; the Agreement on Visa Waiver for Diplomatic and Service Passports; the Memorandum of Understanding for the Establishment of Political Consultation Mechanisms; the Protocol of Cooperation Agreement in the field of Petroleum and Energy; and Cooperation Agreements in the fields of Tourism and Trade.<\/p>\n

Ambassador Miguel Bembe considered that the implementation of these legal instruments will reinforce the active role of both countries in the integration process in Africa, through the regions in which they are inserted, namely Angola, in Southern and Central Africa, and Senegal, in Africa Western.<\/p>\n

In another meeting, Ambassador Miguel Bembe discussed with his counterpart from Uruguay, Ne\u0301stor Alejandro Rosa Navarro, the state of bilateral cooperation, having considered the economies of the respective countries as complementary.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, Miguel Bembe congratulated diplomat Ne\u0301stor Alejandro Rosa Navarro on his nomination as Uruguay’s extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador to Angola, with non-resident status.<\/p>\n

The two diplomats emphasized the need to develop greater business exchange, especially at the level of the private sector, giving it the opportunity to define investment routes in productive areas and stimulate trade between the two countries.<\/p>\n

Angola and Uruguay share historic relationships of fraternity and cooperate in various areas, with enormous economic potential recognized at a global level, registering the existence of 15 (fifteen) bilateral agreements.<\/p>\n

With regard to regional matters, both interlocutors underlined the need to deepen the dialogue between the Common Market of the South (MERCOSUR) and the Community for the Development of Southern Africa (SADC), as well as highlighting the importance of the Zone of Peace and Cooperation of the South Atlantic (ZOPACAS) as a relevant mechanism for dialogue and awareness raising on inter-regional security and cooperation.<\/p>\n
