Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The head of Angolan diplomacy, Tete\u0301 Anto\u0301nio, defended, this Friday, greater engagement by States and intergovernmental organizations in combating the traffic, commercialization and consumption of synthetic drugs and psychotropic substances.<\/b><\/p>\n

Minister Tete\u0301 Anto\u0301nio made this statement during the Virtual Meeting, from Luanda, on the Global Coalition to Confront the Threats of Synthetic Drugs, oriented by the Secretary of the US Department of State, Antony Blinken, from Washington, United States of America.<\/p>\n

In his speech, he referred that the global community must come together to share information and develop strategies and action plans, in order to join forces to combat the illegal production and trafficking of synthetic drugs. \u201cWe also have to support each other to learn how to prevent and treat drug use\u201d, he underlined.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, the minister shared Angola’s experience with his peers in relation to this disease and reaffirmed his commitment to combating it.<\/p>\n

Te\u0301te Anto\u0301nio said that Angola has committed itself to this cause by creating the National Institute for the Fight Against Drugs (INALUD), which collaborates closely with UNODC to tackle the devastating impact of illegal drug consumption.<\/p>\n

Due to its strategic geographic location, as a preferred route for sea, land or air transit to other destinations, Angola recognizes the need to pay special attention to this issue and, therefore, is committed to cooperating with other countries at regional and international level. to fight trafficking and aim for a world free of illegal drugs.<\/p>\n

In this meeting on the Global Coalition to Confront the Threats of Synthetic Drugs, almost all the heads of diplomacy from countries in Europe, America, Asia and Africa participated, especially those who face this problem.<\/p>\n

On the African continent, in addition to Angola, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs\/Foreign Affairs of Morocco, Comoros, Ghana and South Africa.<\/p>\n

This meeting is an initiative of the US Department of State, aimed at preventing the illicit manufacture and trafficking of synthetic drugs, detect emerging drug threats and patterns of use, promote interventions and public health services to prevent and reduce the consumption of drugs, use, overdose and other related harm.<\/p>\n
