Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Chief of the General Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces, aviation general, Altino dos Santos, addressed a congratulatory message to the staff of the Presidential Security Unit (USP), on the occasion of the celebration of the 47th anniversary of this military body, which is celebrated Saturday (8).<\/b><\/p>\n

In the message, General Altino dos Santos hopes that the event will be celebrated with jubilation and a high spirit of mission, by all general officers, superiors, captains, subalterns, sergeants, squares and civilian workers at the service of this strategic military institution.<\/p>\n

\u201cCreated in 1976, with the mission of guaranteeing the safety of the President of the Republic and his family, the Presidential Security Unit has been able to carry out this noble mission with zeal, determination and unusual professionalism\u201d, highlights General Altino dos Santos in the missive.<\/p>\n

He underlines that after 47 years, the Presidential Security Unit proudly asserts itself as an institution in permanent readiness, whose staff, imbued with high professionalism rooted in an unshakable patriotic feeling, today as in the past will continue to be an example to follow.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn this festive occasion, I reiterate my heartfelt congratulations and wishes that the brave UThe entry into office of the new head of the General Inspectorate of State Administration (IGAE), A\u0302ngelo de Barros Veiga Tavares, in a ceremony led by the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, was the political highlight of the week that ended Saturday .<\/p>\n

At the ceremony, in the Main Hall of the Presidential Palace, in which the new Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Angola (BNA), Maria Juliana de Fontes Pereira, and the Executive Administrator, Maria de Fa\u0301tima Trindade Poc\u0327as, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o asked that maintain the visibility gained by the institution in recent years.<\/p>\n

This week, Angola, Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) were connected via fiber optics, as part of the transfer of management of the Lobito Corridor, for 30 years, to the management consortium.<\/p>\n

The inauguration of the connection took place in the city of Lobito, Benguela, by video call, in a connection made by the Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, Ma\u0301rio Oliveira, who, on the occasion, in a brief conversation, interacted with his counterparts in Zambia and DR Congo.<\/p>\n

The inaugural act was witnessed by the Heads of State of Angola, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilema, and of DR Congo, Fe\u0301lix Tshisekedi.<\/p>\n

Another highlight was Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o’s trip to the National Center for Maritime Coordination and Surveillance, located in Barra do Cuanza, to verify the level of execution of the infrastructure works, with an overall physical execution of around 36.44 percent . The works were consigned on September 11, 2019, for a contractual amount budgeted at US$60,947,470.<\/p>\n

This first phase of construction of the National Center for Maritime Coordination and Surveillance should be completed in December of this year, instead of March 2024, as planned.<\/p>\n

In the parliamentary chapter, the deputies of the National Assembly (AN) decided to postpone “sine die” the debates, in particular, around the duties of the police authorities, within the scope of the Assembly and Demonstration Law project.<\/p>\n

According to the deputy and chairman of the 1st Commission, dedicated to Institutional and Legal Affairs, Joaquim Reis Ju\u0301nior, due to lack of consensus on the duties of the authorities responsible for guaranteeing the protection of demonstrators, the debates were transferred, after already on Thursday- fair it was not possible to overcome the impasse for voting on the chapter.<\/p>\n

The UNITA party voted in favor of the proposal by the Board of Directors of the National Assembly, which updates the installation and end-of-term allowances for deputies to the National Assembly.<\/p>\n

The information was provided by the president of the UNITA Parliamentary Group, Liberty Chiyaka, who, however, considered the respective amount attributed to parliamentarians to cover expenses inherent to social responsibilities to be “insufficient”.<\/p>\n

The installation subsidy for deputies to the National Assembly (AN) recently increased from 11 million, two hundred thousand kwanzas to 22 million, five hundred thousand kwanzas.<\/p>\n

Also worthy of mention was the ordinary meeting of the Committee of Ministers of Defense of the International Conference on the Great Lakes, which addressed, among others, aspects related to peace and stability in the region.<\/p>\n

Gathered behind closed doors, in Luanda, representatives of the 12 Member States of the organization analyzed, among other documents, the report of the Chiefs of Staff, resulting from the antechamber meeting, the technical agreement between the Joint Ad-Hoc Verification Mechanism and the CIRGL defense ministers, in addition to the report of the Regional Coordination Committee.<\/p>\n

In the diplomatic chapter, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Te\u0301te Anto\u0301nio, defended greater engagement by States and intergovernmental organizations in combating the traffic, commercialization and consumption of synthetic drugs and psychotropic substances.<\/p>\n

Minister Te\u0301te Anto\u0301nio made this statement during the Virtual Meeting, from Luanda, on the Global Coalition to Confront the Threats of Synthetic Drugs, oriented by the secretary of the US Department of State, Antony Blinken, from Washington, United States of America.<\/p>\n

The Angolan ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union (AU) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), Miguel Bembe, addressed, in separate meetings, his counterparts from Senegal, Malick Ndao, and from Uruguay, Ne\u0301stor Alejandro Rosa Navarro, the development of cooperation with these States.SP military personnel continue to firmly preserve the value of their mission with the same mastery, courage and determination as always, keeping alive the motto \u201cUSP, Intelligence, Determination and Loyalty\u201d, reads the message.<\/p>\n
