Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The provincial secretary of the Revolutionary United Youth of Angola (JURA) in Cuanza Sul, Adriano Pires, defended, this Tuesday, in Sumbe, greater participation of young people in the defense of democracy, in favor of the social and economic development of the country.<\/b><\/p>\n

The politician made this statement at a press conference, which marked the opening of activities alluding to the commemorations of the 49th anniversary of the founding of the youth organization of UNITA, to be marked on the 18th of this month.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the official advocated the need for young people to work more in defense of citizens’ fundamental rights and freedoms, as well as the promotion of citizenship, for a more inclusive society.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, he expressed concern about the numerous problems that affect this fringe of society, encouraging the Executive to work with a view to gradually solving its problems, mainly linked to unemployment and housing shortages.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are concerned about the problems that afflict the Angolan youth, so we want to encourage the Executive to work towards their resolution, as we are the transforming force of society\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n

Under the motto \u201cJURA, firm in the defense of the Angolan youth for their assertion\u201d, the program alluding to the commemorations of the anniversary of the youth arm of UNITA reserves lectures on the historical path of the organization, debates on the problems that afflict the youth, visits to tourist sites, among other activities.<\/p>\n

The United Revolutionary Youth of Angola was founded on July 18, 1974, by David Janota\u0303o, who was the first president of the youth organization of UNITA.<\/p>\n
